New York, New York (October 19, 2022) – Committee of 100, a non-profit Chinese American leadership organization, today announced the opening of its application process for the 2023 class of Next Generation Leaders (NGLs). The 2023 NGL class will be announced and spotlighted at Committee of 100’s 2023 Conference and Gala, which will take place in early May 2023.

Launched in 2014, Committee of 100’s NGL program convenes an exceptional group of change-makers and rising leaders from diverse sectors, leveraging a collective sense of service and purpose to elevate the impact of each individual. Currently, there are over 170 NGL alumni across a multitude of sectors, making up a vibrant and diverse network.

Becoming a member of Committee of 100’s NGL program comes with the exclusive opportunity to join an engaging community of like-minded leaders, motivated to work towards a more productive U.S.-China relationship and a more diverse and inclusive U.S. society. NGLs will engage with Committee of 100 to develop customized programming tailored to the NGL community and to collaborate with Committee of 100 Members, who are comprised of leaders across business, government, science, academia, and the arts. NGLs will receive complimentary invitations to Committee of 100’s annual conference, which will include dedicated NGL programming, and special access to private events. Additionally, NGLs will engage in innovative service projects that aim to provide positive social impact and community-building.

Feedback from current Next Generation Leaders

Roy Y. Chan is an Assistant Professor of Education at Lee University, and a member of the NextGen Class of 2017. “This is an absolute must-attend program for Asian American men and women in leadership. In a world that often leaves Chinese Americans feeling fragmented and unseen, the Committee of 100 NextGen Leadership Program will help equip and empower participants to raise their voice within communities and provide the skills and tools they need to deal with anti-Asian racialization, family relationships, self-identity, and advocacy. Ernestine Fu is a venture capitalist who supports technology companies from inception to late-stage scaling. For the past decade, she has focused on emerging technologies ranging from autonomous vehicles and robotics to artificial intelligence and big data. She is also an adjunct professor at Stanford University, and one of Committee of 100’s NextGen Alumni. “It is a privilege to be associated with Committee of 100, where I have been able to develop meaningful relationships with fellow leaders in the Asian American community. I am grateful to have collaborated with inspiring members who are service-oriented and driving change in our society.”

Joyce Zhang Gray is the CEO and Founder of Alariss Global, a company that helps international firms expand globally to the United States by hiring local American sales talent. “It has been inspiring to be part of a community of such accomplished and trailblazing Chinese Americans. It is important that we unite and use our collective experiences and resources to support each other and to create positive change in the world. We have a unique role to play in the important relationship between the U.S. and Greater China and the status of Chinese in America and Americans in China.”

Jor Law is a former corporate/securities attorney, tech investor, startup founder, and product manager who brings additional depth to management teams as a strategic consultant. “As Chinese-Americans, we are the ones best suited to bridge the gap in U.S. and China relations while being the best Americans that we can be. Committee of 100 pursues this dual mission relentlessly. The NextGen Leaders program is important not only in incubating the next generation of Chinese-American leaders, but also because NGLs advance the Committee of 100 mission through their own networks.”

Serena Lin is the line producer at CoinDesk where she is responsible for the three daily news programs focused on crypto, blockchain technology and web3. Previously, Serena was a producer at Fox Business where she covered the U.S.-China trade war and brokered a strategic dialogue between the Fox Business executives and Chinese State Council spokespersons delegation in 2019. She is a member of Committee of 100’s NGL inaugural class and NGL advisory council.  “I have been a part of the Committee 100 community since 2013 and the NGL program since 2016. My mentor has been an amazing and was there to help guide me with his insights on U.S.-China relations during several critical moments in my career. As a NextGen Advisory Council member, I’m appreciative of all of our NextGen Leaders as they thrive to galvanize the collective efforts from fellow Chinese Americans with a long-term commitment to address the issues facing our community.”

Stephany Zoo is CMO at AlphaLab Capital Group, a technology-driven trading group, and has lived across 4 continents and 10 countries. “Being a Committee of 100 Next Generation Member really illustrated to me the importance of collectively organizing and discussing topics central to being Asian American. Since I’m based internationally, it’s been really impactful for me to connect to both topics and people who are relevant and moving the needle for the Chinese-American community.”

Application Process and Qualifications

Committee of 100 is now accepting applications from exceptional young professionals and rising leaders from all sectors who are passionate about Committee of 100’s dual missions to promote the inclusion of Chinese Americans and the larger AAPI community in all aspects of U.S. society and to advance constructive dialogue and relations between the U.S. and Greater China. Individuals who demonstrate a remarkable history of professional and personal excellence and between the ages of 25 to 45 years old may apply.
