United States Congressman Ted Lieu to Receive the Committee of 100 Pinnacle Award for Public Service

6th April 2023

Award to be presented at Committee of 100’s 2023 Annual Conference & Gala “Seeking Common Ground,” taking place in San Jose, California from May 5-6

New York, NY (April 6, 2023) – Committee of 100, a non-profit organization of prominent Chinese Americans, today announced that United States Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County), will receive the Committee of 100 Pinnacle Award for Public Service. The award is given to the group or individual that puts the interests of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community at the forefront of their policy and politics, regardless of party.

Congressman Lieu represents California’s 36th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. Congressman Lieu is serving in his fifth term in Congress and currently sits on the House Judiciary, Foreign Affairs, and Science, Space, and Technology Committees. He was elected by his colleagues to serve as Vice Chair of the Democratic Caucus, making him the highest-ranking Asian American to have ever served in House Leadership. Congressman Lieu is a veteran, having served on active duty and then in the Reserve for the Air Force. He retired from the Reserve in 2021 with the rank of Colonel. Prior to becoming Vice Chair, Congressman Lieu served as Co-Chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee in the 116th and 117th Congresses. In that role, the Congressman helped to shape messaging around key Democratic priorities including the American Rescue Plan, the Inflation Reduction Act, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the Chips and Science Act, among other initiatives.

This year’s Conference & Gala theme is “Seeking Common Ground in Turbulent Times.” For three decades, Committee of 100’s Conference & Gala has convened distinguished academics, policymakers, businesses, and next-generation leaders from across the U.S. for a series of discussions, debates, keynotes, and networking sessions. Participants share a common goal of advocating for and promoting the full participation of all Chinese Americans in American society.

The event will take place at the Signia by Hilton San Jose May 5-6. Content will focus on diplomacy, economic interdependence, education, technology, anti-Asian hate, and more.

In the coming weeks, panel discussions, breakouts, additional award winners, and keynote speakers will be announced. Registration for the Conference & Gala is now available here.
