Award to be presented at Committee of 100’s 2023 Annual Conference & Gala “Seeking Common Ground,” taking place in San Jose, California from May 5-6

New York, NY (March 30, 2023) – Committee of 100, a non-profit organization of prominent Chinese Americans, today announced that Tony Xu, Co-Founder and CEO of DoorDash will receive the Committee of 100 Spotlight Award for Business Model Innovation. The award is given to the group or individual who develops a product or solution that fundamentally changes the traditional business model through technology, business processes or direct B2B to B2C application.

As the Co-Founder and CEO of DoorDash, Mr. Xu has led a revolution in e-commerce, connecting customers with local businesses and their favorite retailers. Founded in 2013, DoorDash is building products and services to further local commerce, enabling merchants to thrive in the convenience economy, giving consumers access to more of their communities, and providing work that empowers. Born in Nanjing, China, Mr. Xu immigrated to the United States with his parents at the age of four, earning degrees from the University of California Berkeley and Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. A business and technology innovator, Mr. Xu worked at Square, McKinsey & Company and eBay, and was included in Fortune’s “40 Under 40” list in 2020. DoorDash had its IPO in December 2020.

This year’s Conference & Gala theme is “Seeking Common Ground in Turbulent Times.” For three decades, Committee of 100’s Conference & Gala has convened distinguished academics, policymakers, businesses, and next-generation leaders from across the U.S. for a series of discussions, debates, keynotes, and networking sessions. Participants share a common goal of advocating for and promoting the full participation of all Chinese Americans in American society.

The must-attend event will take place at the Signia by Hilton San Jose May 5-6. Content will focus on diplomacy, economic interdependence, education, technology, anti-Asian hate, and more.

In the coming weeks, panel discussions, breakouts, additional award winners, and keynote speakers will be announced. Registration for the Conference & Gala is now available here.
