-Organization Asks for a Full Correction from the Editors-
New York, NY (November 7, 2022) – Committee of 100, a non-profit membership organization of prominent Chinese Americans, is calling on the editors of The Sunday Guardian to print a full correction for factual inaccuracies in an October 23 column “Xi declares victory in Hong Kong, the West shrugs.”
The columnist and publication’s editors confused Committee of 100 with other organizations when it cited Committee of 100 by name in the column, referencing a letter that was sent to Congress and the White House in June of 2019.
Committee of 100 was not the signatory of that letter, a letter that was publicly printed in The Washington Post.
By referencing Committee of 100 in the column in multiple locations, the columnist and The Sunday Guardian have libeled Committee of 100 with incorrect inferences.
Committee of 100 is demanding a full correction on the column. As of this statement, numerous calls and emails to The Sunday Guardian editors and the freelance columnist have gone unreturned.
