Committee of 100 Condemns Tweet of Senator Marsha Blackburn

New York, NY (March 7, 2023) — Committee of 100, a nonprofit organization of prominent Chinese Americans, issued the following statement on the “anniversary” of U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn’s derogatory Tweet saying “China has a 5,000 year history of cheating and stealing. Some things will never change…”

From Committee of 100:

It has now been more than 800 days since Senator Blackburn posted that derogatory and xenophobic tweet about China, a tweet that has a direct, negative impact on the Chinese American population. As a society, we cannot sit idly by and allow racially charged language to go unchecked. Words have meaning, and racially charged words have consequences. That tweet remains posted and we ask that it be deleted by the Senator.
