ANNOUNCING: Four New Members of the Committee of 100

The Committee of 100 is excited to announce four distinguished new members of the Committee of 100: Michelle K. Lee, X. Rick NiuChien Chung (Didi) Pei, and Peter Young. Please see below for their respective biographies.

 

Michelle K. Lee, Committee of 100 Member

The Committee of 100 is proud to welcome the Honorable Michelle K. Lee, former Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as one of its newest members. Ms. Lee was the principal advisor to the President, through the Secretary of Commerce, on domestic and international intellectual property policy and was the first woman to serve as Director of the USPTO in the country’s history. Prior to joining the USPTO, she served as Deputy General Counsel and Head of Patents and Patent Strategy for Google and helped the company grow into the multi-national Fortune 500 corporation that it is today. She is a proven leader at the top levels in technology, law, business and government. She currently serves as the Herman Phleger Visiting Professor at Law at Stanford Law School.

X. Rick Niu, Committee of 100 Member

The Committee of 100 is proud to announce that X. Rick Niu, President & CEO of Starr Strategic Holdings LLC, has joined our membership. Niu oversees all aspects of Starr’s global capability that meets the investment, wealth management, insurance and other strategic needs of emerging-market investors doing business in the U.S. and around the world, as well as companies and local governments in developed and developing countries seeking international investments that support commercial growth, capital optimization and job creation. Additionally, he serves as Chairman, Board of Supervisors, Starr Property & Casualty Insurance (China) Co., Ltd.

Chien Chung (Didi) Pei, Committee of 100 Member

The Committee of 100 is excited to officially welcome Chien Chung (Didi) Pei, Principal of Pei Partnership Architects, into our membership. Didi Pei earned a Bachelor of Arts cum laude in Physics from Harvard College in 1968 and graduated in 1972 from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design with a Master’s Degree in Architecture. As the middle son of I.M. Pei, he was taught the vision, commitment and professional standards essential to the creation of significant and lasting architecture during his formative years. Prior to founding Pei Partnership Architects in 1992 with his brother, Li Chung (Sandi), C.C. Pei spent the first 20 years of his professional career contributing to many of I.M. Pei and Partners’ most celebrated projects, including the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. (1978) and the Grand Louvre in Paris (Associate Partner for Design + Administration, 1992).

Peter Young, Committee of 100 Member

The Committee of 100 is pleased to officially welcome Peter Young as one of its newest members. Mr. Young manages Young & Partners and is actively involved in client transactions and financings. Under his leadership, Young & Partners has established and maintained its position as a leader in the industry. Prior to 1996, Mr. Young was Global Head of Chemicals Investment Banking at Lehman Brothers where he oversaw the worldwide efforts of Lehman in Chemicals. Previously he was head of the Chemical Groups at Salomon Brothers and Schroders. Mr. Young has been involved with the chemical and pharma industries for over twenty four years. Early in his career while with Bain & Co., Mr. Young provided strategic advice to major chemical and life science companies.
