Niu oversees all aspects of Starr's global capability that meets the investment, wealth management, insurance and other strategic needs of emerging-market investors doing business in the U.S. and around the world, as well as companies and local governments in developed and developing countries seeking international investments that support commercial growth, capital optimization and job creation.  Additionally, he serves as Chairman, Board of Supervisors, Starr Property & Casualty Insurance (China) Co., Ltd.   Prior to Starr, Niu was Chief Marketing Officer with ING Retirement, America’s third-largest retirement services company, and Executive Vice President and Chief Growth Officer of ING Insurance, a top-ranked U.S. life insurer.  He also led ING’s international private wealth management platform in the U.S.  Immediately before ING, Niu was Senior Vice President with AIG American General, the combined life insurance and retirement savings company as a result of a $23 billion acquisition in 2001.  He also held various product, distribution, operations, turnaround, cross-selling and general management responsibilities across AIG in the U.S. and Europe.  Prior to AIG, he was a management consultant and marketing director at China International Trust & Investment Corporation, one of Asia’s largest industrial, investment and financial services conglomerates headquartered in Beijing.   Niu is a member of Council on Foreign Relations.  Native in Mandarin Chinese, he is actively involved in efforts supporting Starr's historic commitment to U.S.-China relations.     Niu earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Tsinghua University in Beijing, and an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York. He also attended the Financial Services Senior Executive Leadership Program at INSEAD in Paris and Singapore.  Niu lives in New York with his wife and two children.
