Leading Life Sciences and Chemical Investment Banker // New York Regional Chair

Mr. Young manages Young & Partners, a leading life science and chemical industry corporate strategy, financial advisory and investment banking firm. Mr. Young has been providing corporate strategy, M&A, restructuring and capital raising services to leading life science and chemical companies globally since 1996. Previously, he was Global Head of Chemicals Investment Banking at Lehman Brothers and Schroders and Global Chemical M&A at Salomon Brothers. Earlier in his career while with Bain & Co., Mr. Young provided strategy consulting advice to major chemical and life science companies on a global basis. He was also a senior member of J.H. Whitney & Co., now Whitney & Co, the Whitney family venture capital firm.

Mr. Young received an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School (Baker Scholar with Highest Distinction), an M.S. in Accounting from New York University and a B.A. in Economics from Yale University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Global Management Accountant. He is on the board of a number of organizations. For the past 30 years he has been on the board of and is currently president of Société de Chimie Industrielle, one of the leading non-profit organizations serving the life science and chemical industries and for the last 22 years he has been on the editorial advisory board of Pharmaceutical Executive.

At the Committee of 100, in addition to being the New York Regional Chair and on the board of directors, he leads the Committee of 100 Asian American Career Ceilings Initiative and the Conversations: Recollections, Pioneers and Heroes program that interviews Chinese Americans who have contributed to the success of the United States.

In terms of awards, he received the Science History Institute Richard Bolte Award for his life-long contributions to the chemical and material sciences industry and the Commercial Development and Marketing Association Executive Excellence award. He also received the Foreign Policy Association Medal (“FPA”), the highest honor bestowed by the FPA, which recognizes individuals who demonstrate responsible internationalism and work to expand public knowledge of international affairs. Past recipients include the Honorable Michael Bloomberg, Mayor, New York City; Timothy Geithner, Chairman, Federal Reserve Bank of New York; Jean-Claude Trichet, President of the European Central Bank; Kevin Rudd, Prime Minister, Australia; Sheila C. Bair, Chairman, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and Anne-Marie Slaughter, Dean, Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University, among others.
