Chairman (retired), GE Capital Aviation Services

Norman Liu was the Chairman of GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), the commercial aviation leasing and financing unit of GE. Before being named to his current role in January 2016, Norm was the President and CEO of GECAS for seven years.

Norm is a 30-year veteran of GE Capital, with 20 years at GECAS.

He joined GE Capital in 1988 in the Transportation & Industrial Funding business where he managed the leasing, capital markets, and business development groups. He later worked on the headquarters staff of GE Capital as VP Business Development and served briefly as a Managing Director at Kidder Peabody, an investment banking firm, where he was a member of the Management Committee.

Norm joined GECAS in 1995 and served as Executive Vice President of Commercial Operations from 1996 to 2009. He was named a Corporate Vice President of GE Capital in 1992 and was appointed a Corporate Vice President of GE in 2002.

Before joining GE, he held investment banking positions at Dean Witter Reynolds (now Morgan Stanley) and Samuel Montagu (now part of HSBC plc).

Norm earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Yale and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He has served as Corporate Champion of the GE Asian Pacific American Forum, was a Director of Global Infrastructure Partners, and is a member of the Committee of 100, a leading Chinese American organization.
