Dr. Wang has over twenty seven years of management experience with multinational corporations in North America and Asia. Dr. Wang worked for General Motors from 1985 to 2005 in various managerial roles. Dr. Wang joined Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp., the largest Chinese auto group, as Vice President in March 2006 and became the CEO of Beijing Automotive Industry Corp. (BAIC), the fifth largest China auto group, in Feb. 2008. Under Dr. Wang’s leadership, BAIC increased vehicle sales by 230% and profits nearly 700%. Dr. Wang led the negotiations to acquire the core IPR and key equipment and tooling of Saab in 2009 and developed a new car brand in China with several models launched in 2012. Dr. Wang also led the BAIC acquisition of Inalfa, a global tier I supplier of auto roof systems in 2011. Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Cornell University. Dr. Wang is a member of Committee 100 and is the founding Chairman of Chinese Association of Greater Detroit, the Chairman of US China Automotive Exchange and the Chairman of the China Global Automotive Executive Council.
