Committee of 100 Comments on President Biden’s Updated Actions and Response to the Increase in Acts of Anti-Asian Violence

30th March 2021

New York, NY (March 30, 2021) — Today, President Joe Biden issued an updated fact sheet and actions to condemn and combat racism, xenophobia, and intolerance against the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. The following statement was issued by Zheng Yu Huang, President of Committee of 100, on these updated actions:

“Committee of 100 is heartened to see the Biden administration issue a series of actions and announcements today focusing on addressing the increasing acts of anti-Asian violence. Committee of 100 believes that with additional funding, education, and legislation, we have the chance to put these horrific incidents behind us and move forward as a nation. The recent acts of hate, violence and xenophobia have no place in our country, but this is not a new problem – only one that is getting more publicity. For centuries now, the Chinese American and AAPI community continues to be seen as the perpetual foreigner, strangers in our own homeland. We commend the Biden administration for taking some important steps in what will be a long journey to bring real change.”
