Committee of 100 Announces Updates to its Board

New York, NY (August 13, 2025) – Committee of 100, a nonprofit leadership organization of distinguished Chinese Americans dedicated to strengthening American society and fostering constructive U.S.–China relations, is pleased to announce the following updates to its board and leadership team. 

Firstly, Committee of 100 would like to thank outgoing Board members David Chang, Gordon Chang, Leroy Chiao, and Julie Fong for their service, dedication and commitment to the Board for the past several years and serving out their terms. They remain active members of Committee of 100. 

 
Joining the Committee of 100 Board for their first term are the following members:

Dr. Karen Eng  
Dr. Karen Eng is President and CEO of CSMI, a leading engineering firm specializing in FDA and USDA-regulated industries. She is a seasoned entrepreneur and executive with a track record over 28 years of driving business growth, building strategic relationships, and leading organizational impact. She has been a Committee of 100 member since 2023. 
Deborah Liu 
Deborah Liu is a Silicon Valley leader focused on innovation and growth in consumer technology products. She is the former President & CEO and Board of Directors member of Ancestry. Prior to joining Ancestry, Ms. Liu was a senior executive at Facebook where she created and led Facebook’s Marketplace, where billions of people buy and sell from one another. She has been a Committee of 100 member since 2020. 
Richard Lui 
Richard Lui is a veteran journalist with more than 30 years in broadcast journalism, film, technology, and business. Currently an anchor at MSNBC / NBC News and previously with CNN Worldwide, Lui was the first AAPI male to anchor a daily, national news show. He has been a Committee of 100 member since 2020. 
Alan Tse 
Alan K. Tse is the Global Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of Jones Lang LaSalle, Inc (NYSE: JLL), the Fortune 200 Real Estate Services Company with 100,000+ employees worldwide. Alan is the co-founder and serves on the Board of the Asian American Legal Foundation. He has been a Committee of 100 member since 2023. 

Continuing with the Board for a second term are the following members: 

Oscar Tang
Oscar L. Tang is committed to supporting institutions that promote excellence in education, art and culture, and advanced studies in Chinese civilization. In addition to serving as Co-Chairman of the New York Philharmonic, Mr. Tang serves on the boards of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and United States Bobsled and Skeleton Foundation. He is a founding member and Governor of Committee of 100. 
Brian Wong 
Brian A. Wong is Founder and Chairman of RADII (www.radii.co), a leading digital media company dedicated to bridging the understanding between youth in the east and west. Previously, Brian contributed to Alibaba Group’s early globalization efforts in various business roles, such as head of international marketing and business development, and vice president of global sales. He has been a Committee of 100 member since 2020. 
Buck Gee (Northern California Regional Chair) 
Buck Gee is an Executive Advisor to Ascend, a nonprofit Pan-Asian organization of business professionals. In 2010, he co-founded the Advanced Leadership Program for Asian American Executives, an executive education program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He also serves on the boards of the Chinatown Media and Art Collective (CMAC), the Asia Society/Northern California, and APIAVote. He retired in 2008 from Cisco Systems, where he was Vice President and General Manager of the Data Center Business Unit. He has been a Committee of 100 member since 2015. 
Handel Lee (D.C. Regional Chair) 
Handel Lee is the Co-Founder and Chair of Friends of the National Asian Pacific American Museum, the nonprofit organization leading the effort to establish a national museum on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., dedicated to preserving and honoring the contributions of Asian Pacific Americans in America’s history and society. In his legal practice, he has been a recognized leading lawyer in energy, infrastructure and project finance in Asia. He was partner at top-tier global law firms and was one of the earliest American lawyers to practice in China. He has been a Committee of 100 member since 2007. 

Gary Locke, Debra Wong Yang, and Oscar Tang will remain Committee of 100’s Chair, Vice Chair, and Treasurer, respectively. Board Member Daphne Kwok will become Committee of 100’s Board Secretary, replacing David Chang.

Daphne Kwok is the Vice President, Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Audience Strategy at AARP. Her work empowers Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) to choose how they live as they age. She brings to AARP her experience as a “leader of leaders” through her community service in promoting and empowering the AAPI community. In 2010, Daphne was appointed by President Barack Obama to chair his Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. She has been a Committee of 100 member since 2023. 
Existing Board members continuing their current terms are: Cyndie Chang (Southern California Regional Chair), Peter Young (New York Regional Chair), Eric Zheng (Greater China Regional Chair), Brian Sun, Maeley Tom, Ted Wang, Benjamin Wu, and Jay Xu. 

Departing the board are the following members: 

David Chang  
Dr. David C. Chang has been a Professor Emeritus at the Tandon School of Engineering at New York University since 2013. Dr. Chang received his MS and Ph.D. from Harvard and BS from National Cheng-Kung University. He founded the Global Maximum Educational Opportunities, Inc. or g-MEO in short, a new venture aimed at recruiting American college students to study and/or intern abroad in China in 2012, and is now its Chairman & CEO. He has been a Committee of 100 member since 1996. 
Gordon Chang 
Gordon H. Chang is professor of history at Stanford University and the Olive H. Palmer Professor in Humanities. He recently stepped down as the Senior Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education. In that position, he helped lead the University through the trials of the pandemic. He has been on the Stanford faculty since 1991, and has served as the Director of the Asian American Studies Program and the Director of the Center for East Asian Studies. He has been a Committee of 100 member since 2015. 
Leroy Chiao 
Leroy Chiao is a former NASA astronaut and International Space Station commander. He works in business, consulting, executive coaching and space education. He is a co-founder and CEO of OneOrbit, a training and education solutions company, and is also a professional international speaker. Chiao also holds appointments at Rice University and the Baylor College of Medicine, and is an advisor to the Houston Association for Space and Science Education. He has been a Committee of 100 member since 2006.  
Julie Fong 
Throughout her career, Julie Fong has worked extensively as a film producer in areas encompassing film, television, documentaries, music videos and commercial production. After graduating from UCLA with a degree in Motion Picture/TV Production, Fong began her career as a producer of music videos and commercials for numerous notable Artists and brands, respectively. She won a Grammy for her work with Sting, making her the first Chinese-American female to win this prestigious award. She serves as the CEO and Managing Partner for Partizan Entertainment, director Michel Gondry’s production company. She has been a Committee of 100 member since 2000. 

All Committee of 100 Directors and Officers are Members of the organization. Committee of 100 holds elections for the Chair role every three years and elections for Board Roles and Regional Chairs every fiscal year on a rotating and term basis.
