Join us for the thirty-sixth Committee of 100 Asian American Career Ceilings Initiative event on the topic of “What is the Government Doing about DEI and Asian American Career Ceilings?”.
This event will feature an interview with Jenny Yang, a Civil Rights Leader and Former Government Official; Former White House, Domestic Policy Council as a Deputy Assistant to the President for Racial Justice and Equity; and Former Chair of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, followed by a Q&A session.
Jenny Yang is a highly respected equity and racial justice veteran who has served in senior positions in the Federal Government, the White House and as a civil rights leader for almost her entire career. She very recently stepped down from her position in the White House and is teaching at New York University School of Law.
Peter Young, Chair of the Initiative and a Committee of 100 Member, will moderate the fireside chat.
Asian Americans have faced significant career obstacles and racial inequities. The U.S. government has an important role in formulating policies and laws, having a role in protecting the rights of individuals related to equity and racial injustice, and providing information and guidance to the public.
During this fireside chat, we will cover a number of topics:
- A discussion of Jenny Yang’s career and experiences
- What role does the federal government play in addressing career ceilings and racial equity?
- Where is the issue of equity, diversity and inclusion heading?
- Where are the gaps in terms of government efforts at the Federal, State and Local levels?
- Which of these gaps will realistically be filled and how?
- What can the members of the audience do as individuals to advance the cause, including organizations that they can join and be part of?
