This fall, the Committee of 100 supported a unique exhibition entitled National Memories: U.S.-China Collaboration during WWII. The exhibition was organized by the Wilson Center’s Kissinger Institute on China and the United States and the China Overseas Exchange Association. Curated by Zhang Dongpan, He Di, John Easterbrook, and the Hong Kong China Tourism Press, the exhibition was on display October 15-21, 2014 at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C. C-100’s support for this exhibition on historic bilateral collaboration is part of the Committee’s efforts to enhance U.S.-China trust and collaborate with like-minded organizations.

On October 15, C-100 Washington, D.C. Regional Co-Chair Jeremy Wu, members Anna Chennault and Robert Gee, and guests of C-100 attended the exhibition opening luncheon at the Wilson Center. The luncheon featured remarks from Madam Wu Xi, Minister of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, and He Yafei, Deputy Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, who discussed the past, present, and future of U.S.-China relations.

Distinguished guests and organization representatives, including C-100 Washington, D.C. Regional Co-Chair Jeremy Wu, participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the exhibition. A trailer for a documentary on the exhibit was premiered, and Colonial John Easterbrook discussed how Americans and Chinese collaborated to curate the exhibit. General Brent Scowcroft, former U.S. National Security Advisor and President of the Scowcroft Group, gave concluding keynote remarks on the future of U.S.-China engagement, noting that the National Memories exhibit is a “reminder of all that we can accomplish together.”
