On the evening of Tuesday, February 9 C-100 members attended the 5th Annual Lunar New Year New York Philharmonic Concert and Gala Dinner at Lincoln Center. C-100 members were honored to have been joined by United Nations Secretary General, The Honorable Ban Ki-moon and his wife Madam Ban Soon-taek, as well as Ambassador Zhang Qiyue, Consul General of China in New York, and her husband Ambassador Liu Jieyi, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations. The performance featured work by C-100 member and Grammy winning composer, Tan Dun. The evening was co-chaired by C-100 members Guoqing Chen, Oscar Tang, and Shirley Young, and was also attended by Clarence Kwan , Herman Li, Howard Li, Henry Tang, and Frank H. Wu.
The Committee of 100 celebrated the Year of the Monkey with a series of exciting events at iconic venues across New York, including a private fireworks show viewing at the Chinese Embassy, with Consul General of the People’s Republic of China to New York, Ambassador Zhang Qiyue. This year’s events also honored the inaugural city-wide Lunar New Year public school holiday. We look forward to a wonderful Year of the Monkey!
