Two days in Washington, D.C. marking the 250th anniversary of the United States

About the gala

In recognition of the 250th anniversary of the United States, the Gala celebrates Chinese American and Asian American leadership, contributions, and influence across American life. The evening will honor leaders who bridge cultures, strengthen democratic institutions, and drive innovation, telling a fuller American story across infrastructure, culture, and civic life. Academy Award-winning filmmaker Ang Lee will join C100 Board Chair Janet Yang for the evening’s keynote fireside conversation. More than 250 guests will gather, including policymakers, business leaders, cultural figures, C100 members, honorees, sponsors, and allied organizations from across the country.

The festivities include a behind-the-scenes visit to Face the Nation, curator-led tours at the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center and the National Archives, a community breakfast with APIAVote, a conversation on U.S.-China relations with Jessica Chen Weiss, and a screening of Dear You followed by a conversation with the director and cast.

Go behind the scenes at Face the Nation and see how one of America’s premier news programs comes together each week. Watch producers and journalists make real-time editorial decisions, respond to breaking news, and prepare interviews with the leaders shaping the national conversation. This experience offers a front-row look at the teamwork and split-second decisions behind a live national broadcast.

Separate lunches for members and Next Generation Leaders fellows.

A curator-led walk through the Center’s current exhibition.

A guided visit to the founding records of the United States.

Dinner bringing members and fellows together ahead of gala day.

Monday, September 28

Join APIAVote for breakfast and a discussion about the issues facing AAPI communities today and how we build the power and representation to address them. Hear from leaders across the AAPI ecosystem working on issues ranging from healthcare, education to civil rights and immigration. The conversation will also explore how we turn advocacy into greater representation, from mobilizing AAPI voters and electing more AAPI leaders to expanding representation among political appointees and the judiciary.

Lunch for members, spouses, and sponsors.

Join Jessica Chen Weiss for a conversation about what comes next for U.S.-China relations following Xi Jinping’s visit to Washington. Hear her perspective on the future of bilateral ties, the competition over AI, and what the United States needs to do to develop the next generation of China experts. Drawing on her experience in academia and the Biden administration, Weiss will also share how her experience as a Chinese American has shaped her career and approach to one of the world’s most consequential relationships.

A debt-ridden grandson travels to Thailand to find the grandfather he believes abandoned their family, hoping the man behind years of qiaopi letters and remittances will help pay his debts. Instead, he uncovers a lifelong act of love and sacrifice. Join us for a screening of DEAR YOU, followed by a conversation with the film’s director and cast about the inspiration behind the story, the history of qiaopi, and why its themes of family, identity, and devotion have resonated with audiences around the world.

Reception for sponsors and VIP ticket holders.

Check-in and seating for the Awards Gala.

Dinner, awards, and a keynote fireside conversation marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. Business or cocktail attire. Join C100 Board Chair Janet Yang in conversation with Ang Lee about his life, career, and upcoming film, “Gold Mountain,” based on C Pam Zhang’s novel “How Much of These Hills Is Gold.” The story follows two Chinese American siblings confronting the American West at the end of the California Gold Rush.
