Wei Sun Christianson served as Morgan Stanley’s Co-CEO of Asia Pacific for over 11 years and CEO of China for over 16 years as well as being on the Firm’s Management Committee for over 14 years until she retired in July of 2022. Following that, Wei served as Senior Advisor of Morgan Stanley until 2025.

She first joined Morgan Stanley in 1998 working in the Firm’s investment banking division. Between 2002 and 2005, she served as Chairman for China for Credit Suisse and subsequently for Citigroup Global Markets. She rejoined Morgan Stanley at the beginning of 2006 as the Firm’s CEO for China.

Before starting her investment banking career, Wei Sun Christianson was an Associate Director at the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). Prior to this, she was a lawyer in New York with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.

Ms. Christianson has been named in Fortune magazine’s Most Powerful Women (MPW) “International list” for fourteen consecutive years since 2008. She was one of the Financial Times’ twelve “Women of the Year for 2013”.

Ms. Christianson serves as a member of the Board of Directors of LVMH and HSBC Holdings. She served on the Board of Directors of the Estee Lauder Company for 12 years. She is currently a member of the Board of Advisors at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and a member of the Advisory Council of Bretton Woods Committee. She also serves as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She graduated cum laude from Amherst College and received her J.D. degree from the Columbia University School of Law. She is admitted to practice law by the New York Bar Association.
