Eric Chan is Chief Business and Strategy Officer at Gap Inc., reporting to CEO Richard Dickson. He leads strategy and business development, international operations, partnerships, real estate, loyalty programs, workplace experience, and procurement.
Born to immigrant parents from Hong Kong and China, Eric began his career as an investment banking analyst at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ), before co-founding a software company that raised $15 million and was acquired by Hewlett-Packard. He later held leadership roles at Cisco, including overseeing media solutions for global entertainment companies, and served as SVP of Finance and Strategy at Mattel, responsible for all brands, licensing, and consumer products.
In the startup world, he was COO/CFO of Loot Crate—raising $30 million, achieving Inc. Magazine’s #1 fastest-growing company ranking, and winning Los Angeles Business Journal’s CFO of the Year—and COO/CFO of The Bouqs Company, leading $30+ million in Series C and D funding.
As CFO of the LA Clippers, Intuit Dome, and Kia Forum, he managed team finances and major capital projects, including financing and building the Intuit Dome and acquiring the LA Forum from Madison Square Garden. He was again recognized as Los Angeles Business Journal CFO of the Year and was among the most senior NBA executives of Asian descent.
He has served on the boards of Heritage Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: HFWA), East West Players, and The Lundquist Corporation, and founded the El Segundo Economic Development Corporation. A Gold House A100 honoree and U.S. Patent holder (No. 8,566,884 B2), he holds degrees from UC Berkeley and Harvard Business School.
