On the morning of February 6, C-100 members attended the opening ceremony of the Lunar New Year art exhibition at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. The evening was co-hosted by C-100 founder and governor Shirley Young, and attended by fellow C-100 members Henry Tang and Frank H. Wu.

The opening event included a special tour of the 2016 Fantastic Arts China exhibition, a 72,000 square foot display of next generation Chinese and American artists, as well as works from contemporary artists Pan Gongkai, Su Xinping, Jiang Jie, and Duan Haikang. The evening also featured special performances by iSING! & National Dance Institute public school students, as well as a special presentation by The Nature Conservancy on the endangered golden monkey and the environment.

This event was part of a series of Year of the Monkey celebrations at iconic venues across New York, including a private fireworks show viewing at the Chinese Embassy, with Consul General of the People’s Republic of China to New York, Ambassador Zhang Qiyue, and a special New York Philharmonic Concert and Gala. This year’s events also honored the inaugural city-wide Lunar New Year public school holiday.
