We are pleased to invite you to attend Committee of 100’s Conversations—”Recollections, Pioneers, and Heroes” featuring Alice Young, whose career has been defined by groundbreaking achievements in law, advocacy for diversity, and dedicated community service.

Alice Young served as Partner and Chair of the Asia Practice at leading law firms including Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer and Milbank Tweed, specializing in corporate law, international transactions, and Asia business partnerships. As a member of the first graduating class of women of Yale College and one of the first Asian American women to graduate from Harvard Law School, she broke barriers on Wall Street and paved the way for women and minorities throughout her 40+ year law career. Beyond her legal work, Young has been a tireless advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Trailblazing Lawyer and Advocate for Equality

Alice Young is a pioneering lawyer and consultant whose career has been defined by groundbreaking achievements in law, advocacy for diversity, and dedicated community service.

Young served as Partner and Chair of the Asia Practice at leading law firms including Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer and Milbank Tweed, specializing in corporate law, international transactions, and Asia business partnerships. She advised Fortune 50 multinational companies and entrepreneurs on major international projects and helped build cross-border business and cultural bridges.

As a member of the first graduating class of women of Yale College and one of the first Asian American women to graduate from Harvard Law School, she broke barriers on Wall Street and paved the way for women and minorities throughout her 40+ year law career.

She was one of the first lawyers to advise on projects in China after its opening to international business in the late 1970s and was the first woman, minority and youngest lawyer to open an international law firm branch office in New York City. She served as an Independent Board Director for AXIS International Capital Holdings, Ltd. (NYSE-listed public company) and Mizuho Trust and Banking Co. (USA), was Chair of the Deloitte Diversity External Advisory Board, and after her retirement founded Alice Young Advisory LLC.

Beyond her legal work, Young has been a tireless advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion. She has mentored countless students and young lawyers, particularly women and minorities, and is active in organizations promoting education, social justice, and civic engagement. She is a Member of Committee of 100 and the Council on Foreign Relations, a Fellow of Yale University, a Trustee of The Aspen Institute, The Asia Foundation, and Senior Advisor to AAPI New Jersey.

Her many honors include the Sandra Day O’Connor DirectWomen Distinguished Alumnae Award, the AALDEF Justice in Action Award, the Boy Scouts of America (NY Councils) Distinguished Woman of the Year Award, the Chambers Women in Law Outstanding Achievement Award, the Womankind Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Yale Medal.

Peter Young is CEO of Young & Partners, a boutique investment banking firm focused on the life science and chemical industries. He manages the firm and is actively involved in client transactions and financings. Under his leadership, Young & Partners has established and maintained its position as a highly regarded firm serving the corporate strategy, M&A, restructuring and financing needs of clients worldwide. He was previously head of industry groups at Salomon Brothers, Schroders and Lehman Brothers, a senior private equity executive with J.H. Whitney & Co. and a senior member of Bain & Co., the corporate strategy firm.

Young received a BA in Economics from Yale, an MS in Accounting from NYU, and MBA from Harvard Business School where he graduated with Distinction as a Baker Scholar. He is a CPA and a Chartered Global Management Accountant. He serves on a number of boards of directors, both corporate and non-profit and is a board member of Société de Chimie Industrielle, a leading life science and chemical industry non-profit organization and on the Editorial Advisory Board of Pharmaceutical Executive.
