(New York-April 28, 2014)— Clarence Kwan, Senior Partner at Sino-Century China Overseas Investment Partners, became the 7th Chairman of the Committee of 100, an organization of Chinese American leaders, effective April 28, 2014.
Clarence Kwan is a Senior Partner at Sino-Century China Overseas Investment Partners and also serves as an independent director at East West Bank. In addition to being a trusted advisor to clients on M&A and cross-border investment, Clarence is well recognized for his leadership in building two of Deloitte’s most important emerging market practices, Eastern Europe and China. Clarence is actively involved in community and professional organizations. He was the founding chair of the China Committee of the U.S. Council for International Business, the founding chair of the China Task Force of the Business & Industry Advisory Committee to the OECD, and a vice chair and treasurer of the Museum of Chinese in America. From 2004 to 2006, he was a senior advisor to the China Association of Chief Financial Officers.
Clarence Kwan stated: “I am honored to serve as the next Chairman of C-100 and have this opportunity to build on the impressive achievements of our founders and past chairmen. In this new era of U.S.-China relations, the role of C-100 to help build strategic trust and influence positive economic, political, and social change has never been more relevant. We will aim to reinforce the positives of this important relationship by seeking new ideas and promoting bilateral collaboration. On the domestic front, we will increase teaming with peer organizations to further societal contributions of Chinese Americans. At this dynamic point in C-100’s history, I look forward to working with our members to advance our dual mission – encouraging constructive U.S.-China relations and promoting the full participation of Chinese Americans in all aspects of American life.”
Outgoing Chairman Dominic Ng commented: “I am grateful to my esteemed fellow C-100 members for entrusting me with the organization’s direction and expansion during my three-year tenure. In passing the mantle to our incoming chairman Clarence Kwan, I am confident that the Committee’s future is strong and bright.”
