Committee of 100 Denounces False Narrative In Fox News Story

7th October 2021

New York, NY (October 7, 2021) — The following statement was issued by Zheng Yu Huang, President of Committee of 100 in regards to a false narrative about Committee of 100 in a recent Fox News story:

“A story by Fox News was recently published which made reference to Committee of 100 having ties to the United Front, and having events sponsored by media outlets controlled by the Chinese Communist Party. The insinuations about Committee of 100 made in the story were patently untrue and harmful. As an American organization, Committee of 100 strongly opposes any effort by any foreign power – China or elsewhere – to influence American society and democracy.

Committee of 100 is a non-profit, non-partisan American organization that promotes the full participation of more than five million Chinese Americans in all aspects of U.S. society and advances constructive dialogue and relationships between the peoples and leaders of the United States and Greater China. All Committee of 100 members are proud American citizens who embrace their Chinese heritage. Unfortunately for too long, the AAPI community has suffered under the perpetual foreigner trope.

We contacted Fox News and demanded that this false information about Committee of 100 be retracted, and it was – with an editor’s note admitting the error and deleting the reference to Committee of 100.”
