Corporate partner at Morrison & Foerster

Paul Lin has built his legal career at the intersection of two of the world’s largest economies, advising clients on complex cross-border transactions and legal matters between the United States and Greater China. As a corporate partner at Morrison & Foerster in Los Angeles, Lin specializes in mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments, joint ventures, and corporate finance. He regularly serves as outside general counsel to multinational corporations advising on cross border legal matters.

Lin’s client roster spans multinational public companies, Chinese state-owned enterprises, privately held businesses, and family offices across industries including technology, consumer products, automotive, green energy, and biotechnology. He represents some of the world’s largest consumer electronics and technology companies in both transactional matters and intellectual property litigation in the United States.

Lin joined Morrison & Foerster in January 2026 after serving as partner-in-charge of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld’s Irvine office for over a decade. An active voice in the cross-border legal community, he frequently speaks on international M&A at forums including the Caijing Conference in Beijing and the UCLA U.S.-China Business Law Conference.

Lin’s commitment to bridging U.S.-China relations extends beyond his legal practice. As a member of the Committee of 100 since 2010, he contributes to bringing a Chinese American perspective to issues affecting Asian Americans and fostering constructive U.S.-China dialogue. He also served on the Dean’s Board of Visitors and Business Advisory Council at UC Irvine School of Law, where he lectured on corporate law and cross-border transactions, and on the board of the Hoag Hospital Foundation.
