Ming Hsieh serves as chairman, CEO and founder of Fulgent Genetics, a leading genetic testing and molecular information company. He also is CEO and founder Fulgent Pharma, a clinical stage company which nano-encapsulates drug compounds in the area of cancer treatment and research. Prior to Fulgent Genetics and Pharma, he was the chairman, CEO, and founder of Cogent Inc. from its inception in 1990 until the billion-dollar sale of its business in 2010 to 3M. Under his leadership, Cogent became the worldwide leader in providing law enforcement, military, and commercial enterprises, as well as civil government agencies with large-scale, reliable, accurate, and real-time biometric identification services.
Ming received his bachelor’s degree in 1983 and his master’s degree in 1984, both in electrical engineering, from the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. He currently serves on the Board of Councilors at USC Viterbi. In 2015, Ming was elected as a member of National Academy of Engineering and received Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2017. In 2018, Ming was inducted by The US National Academy of Investors and inducted by American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering in 2019.
