Committee of 100 Supports 2010 Rose Parade to Feature Shanghai Expo
(New York- October 27, 2009)– The Committee of 100 (C-100) is pleased to announce its financial support of $150,000 to build a float for the 2010 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California to promote the Shanghai 2010 World Expo.
Ming Hsieh, a member of the Committee of 100 and CEO, President and Chairman of Cogent Systems, is a leading sponsor for the Rose Parade float. He said, “The parade is a wonderful event for the Chinese American community of Southern California to come together and show their support for the U.S. Pavilion at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.”
John S. Chen, Chairman of the Committee of 100, said, “As the strategic partner of USA Pavilion, Committee of 100 is proud to support the rose parade float. The 2010 World Expo, with an expected participation of over 200 nations and international organizations, is a great occasion for countries to interact and share their culture with the global community to foster better understanding of each other. ”
The Shanghai World Expo 2010 will be held from May 1-October 31, 2010 with a projected 70 million attendees. This will be China’s debut as host of a world expo. At more than 60,000 square feet, the USA National Pavilion will be one of the largest pavilions at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. It will showcase American culture, values, and businesses in China’s most dynamic city, while at the same time celebrating the friendship between the peoples of the U.S. and China.
Founded in 1989, the Committee of 100 is a national non-partisan, non-profit membership organization comprised of prominent Chinese Americans in a broad range of professions. 百人会赞助加州帕萨迪纳新年花车推动世博会
(纽约-2009 年 10 月 27 日)百人会很高兴地宣布将投入十五万美金赞助 在美国加州帕萨迪纳市举行的元旦玫瑰花车游行中的一辆花车,以推动 上海 2010 年世界博览会的召开。
谢明身为百人会会员与科进公司(Cogent Systems.Inc)的董事长兼首 席执行官,为花车的主要捐款人。他说道:“对于南加州的华裔社区来 讲,花车车队是一个非常精彩的活动,它既能让人们欢聚一堂,又体现 出他们对 2010 年上海世博会美国馆的支持。”

上海世博会将于 2010 年 5 月 1 日至 10 月 31 日举行,预计将有 7000 万 参观者。这将是中国首次主办世界博览会。规划中的美国馆占地六万多 平方英尺,是上海世博会最大的陈列馆之一。它将展示美国的文化、价 值观和美国企业在中国诸多城市中的积极发展,同时也庆祝中美两国人 民的长久友谊。
