Qian (Jenny) Huang is an accomplished educator and researcher with more than 15 years of combined experience in academia, construction management, and applied research. She serves as an Associate Professor and Program Coordinator for Construction Management and Operations at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Her expertise connects construction safety education, artificial intelligence applications in smart buildings and agriculture, and wireless sensor network technologies. She has secured more than $1 million dollars in competitive research funding, including major grants from the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She has published widely in peer reviewed journals, including the Journal of Information Technology in Construction. Huang is a dedicated mentor and academic leader who cares deeply for her students and the broader rural community. She has built a strong record of leadership and excellence in teaching, research, and service. She leads major initiatives that integrate safety training and AI driven learning tools into higher education. Her work advances safer, smarter, and more sustainable built environments while supporting student growth and rural community well–being.
