Cher Wang has an enviable record in the electronics industry. Her remarkable insight into technology trends and entrepreneurship has enabled her to establish a number of highly successful IT-related businesses. She is currently the Chairman of two Taiwan-listed companies, and on the board of directors of or advisor to numerous other companies. While working as a PC Division General Manager, Wang was instrumental in driving the development of First International Computer, Inc. (FIC) into the motherboard business while in the position of General Manager of the PC Division. She is Chairman of VIA Technologies, Inc., which she founded in California in 1987, which went on to become a leading developer of PC core logic chipsets before expanding into complete power-efficient PC processor platforms that are driving system innovation in the PC, ultra mobile, thin client and embedded markets. In 1997, Wang co-founded High Tech Computer Corporation (HTC), aimed at making the convergence of mobile computing and communications a reality through the development of innovative PDAs and smartphones. This vision has translated into a multi-billion dollar global company, and the name behind many of the most popular and powerful handsets on the market. A devout Christian, Ms Wang obtained her Masters in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and is married with two children. In 2005, she was selected as an Innovator in the 2005 Stars of Asia: 25 Leaders on the Forefront of Change by Business Week and was named as one of the ten executives to watch in Asia.
