3rd November 2021

New York, NY (November 3, 2021) — The following statement was issued today by Zheng Yu Huang, President of Committee of 100, regarding the numerous candidates of AAPI descent winning elections last night:

“Committee of 100 congratulates Mayor-Elect Bruce Harrell in Seattle, Mayor-Elect Aftab Pureval in Cincinnati, and Mayor-Elect Michelle Wu in Boston – all candidates of AAPI heritage – who will help lead major American cities in their own ways. We look forward to working with them and all the other newly elected leaders to address concerns and issues that uniquely affects Asian Americans, such as the rise in violence, hate, and racism against Chinese Americans and the Asian American and Pacific Islanders community.”
