New York, NY – Committee of 100, a nonpartisan nonprofit organization of prominent Chinese Americans, today issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s Executive Order to dissolve the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI).
WHIAANHPI was formed to help identify and eliminate any existing institutional policies or barriers within government programs and services that may disadvantage or burden AANHPI communities; improve safety, access to justice, and violence prevention for AANHPI communities; and promote inclusion and belonging for AANHPI communities – including by expanding public education programs.
“The White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders was instrumental in advancing equity, justice, and opportunity for our communities. It’s dismantling represents a significant setback in our ongoing efforts to address systemic challenges and ensure our voices are heard at the highest levels of government.”
