Martin Gold, author of “Forbidden Citizens: Chinese Exclusion and the U.S. Congress: A Legislative History” speaks on the legislative history of the Chinese Exclusion Act(1882) at an event co-hosted by the Committee of 100, Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) and Facing History and Ourselves.

Committee of 100 served as a Steering Committee Member of the 1882 Project u002du002d an educational initiative on the 1882-1943 Chinese Exclusion Laws. Thanks to the Project’s outreach efforts, the 112th Congress passed resolutions in 2011 and 2012 expressing regret for these laws. Forbidden Citizens chronicles the history of this landmark legislative passage.
