Session IV: Trade Secrets and Economic Espionage: Legal Risks in Advancing Technology between the United States and China

Complex U.S. laws on trade secrets, espionage, and export controls are affecting Chinese American professionals in science and technology. Ethnic Chinese continue to be the focus of criminal investigations and prosecutions involving national security, intellectual property theft, and export control violations. Speakers highlighted the requirements and risks these laws pose, including the dangers of racial profiling, and assessed implications for U.S.-China relations.
