Effective Feb 1, 2015 Mei Wei Cheng assumed the position of non-executive Chairman of the BoD of Pactera, a Blackstone Portfolio company. Cheng retired from Siemens effective May 1st, 2014. He assumed the position as CEO Siemens North East Asia, President and CEO Siemens Ltd., China on July 1, 2010, with full responsibility for all Siemens activities in China, Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mongolia and South Korea.

Before joining Siemens, Cheng spent more than ten years at Ford Motor (China) Ltd. from 1998 to 2009, where he, as Chairman and CEO, and later Executive Chairman, steered the company to continuous successes and established Ford among the top auto brands in China. He was also a Corporate Group Vice President of Ford Motor Company.

Cheng joined Ford in 1998 from General Electric Corporation where he was a Corporate Vice President of the company and Regional Executive and President of GE Appliance – Asia in Hong Kong. He was a Corporate Vice President of General Electric Co. and Chairman and CEO of GE (China) Ltd. from 1995 to 1996.

Cheng started his career in 1972 with AT&T, and later became President of AT&T China. Under his leadership, AT&T established a major presence in China.

Cheng served on the Board of Directors of Diebold, Inc from 2009 to 2013. He is currently a member of the board of directors of Seagate Technology pie. He is also a member of the CornelI Engineering College Advisory Council, Dartmouth Tuck Asia Advisory Board, and Magna International’s China Advisory Board. He is also a Senior Venture Partner of Fontinalis Capital Partners II and a founding Partner of China Fortune Healthcare Investment Ltd.

Cheng has also lectured on “Leadership” and “How To Do Business in China” at Cornell, Rutgers, Dartmouth Tuck, Fudan, Tsinghua, China Europe International Business School, and IMD.

Cheng is dedicated to the promotion of understanding between China and the world. He was a Vice Chairman of “Committee of 100” and was elected to the Board of Governors of American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham) for several years and was the Vice Chairman of AmCham in 1996. In April 2011, Cheng was elected Vice President of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China. In recognition of his contribution to the economic and social development of China, Cheng has received numerous awards from the Chinese Government including the Magnolia Silver Award from Shanghai Municipal Government, the Chongqing Three Gorges Friendship Award, CIFIT Award for Distinguished Persons from Multinational Companies, China Auto Industry Outstanding Person Award, Honorary Council Advisor of the Chongqing Mayor’s International Economic Advisory Council and an Honorary Citizen of Chongqing. He also served as Advisors to the governments of Shaanxi, Wuhan and Zhengzhou.

Cheng holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering/operations research from Cornell University, a MBA degree from Rutgers University, and is a graduate of Dartmouth’s Tuck Executive Program and MIT’s Program for Senior Executives.
