Statement from Committee of 100 on the Mass Shooting in Buffalo

15th May 2022

New York, NY (May 15, 2022) — The following statement was issued today by Zhengyu Huang, President of Committee of 100, on the apparent racially motivated mass shooting in Buffalo, New York.

“Committee of 100 is horrified by the mass shooting that took place in Buffalo, New York, a shooting that appears to be motivated by anger and hate towards the African American community. As an organization that strives for the full inclusion of Chinese Americans in American society, we understand the pain of discrimination and prejudice. Our hearts, heavy with grief, are with the friends and families of the victims. These apparent acts of hate have no place in America, whether directed against African Americans or any other American. We stand with our partners at the NAACP and the National Urban League as we collectively fight against racism, bigotry, violence, and ignorance. Hate has no place in our society.”
