Committee of 100 announces new Regional Chairs. Members Kenneth Fong will be the Regional Chair for Northern California, Robert W. Gee for Washington, D.C., and Howard Li and Dazong Wang will serve as Co-Chairs the Greater China region, effective DATE.
Through their leadership within the Chinese American community and their commitment to the U.S.-China bilateral relationship, these honorable and accomplished members will serve in their regions to promote the dual mission of Committee of 100:
- Ensuring full inclusion of Chinese Americans in the U.S.
- Advancing U.S.- China Relations
Regional Chairs
Kenneth Fong – Northern California Regional Chair
Kenneth Fong is Founder and Chairman of Kenson Ventures, a venture capital firm that provides funds and strategic advice to biotechnology start-ups and companies. Prior to Kenson, he founded Clontech Laboratories in 1984, a molecular biology company that posted revenues of $80 million. Dr. Fong is a devoted philanthropist and leader in promoting understanding of Asian Americans, including lead support on a PBS documentary on Chinese-Americans during World War II and the 80-20 Initiative.
Robert W. Gee – Washington, D.C. Regional Chair
Robert W. Gee is President and Founder of the Gee Strategies Group LLC, a consulting firm providing policy analysis, advocacy, and litigation support services for the energy, electric utility and critical infrastructure industries based in Washington, D.C. His diverse client base includes investors, trade associations, utilities, and public sector institutions. He has a thirty-year record of achievement as a seasoned Washington and Texas-based senior public official, attorney, and executive performing complex assignments involving major energy and telecommunications issues at the state, national, and international level.
Howard H. Li – Greater China Regional Chair
Howard H. Li is Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Waitex Group of Companies which was founded in 1981. Waitex has prospered into a hugely successful global conglomerate over 33 years with stronghold in global supply chain services, logistics, warehousing, factoring financial service, real estate investment and development, import & export trading and retail.
Mr. Li was selected by Forbes (Asia) as one of the 25 most influential Chinese Americans in U.S Business. In 2006, U.S President George W. Bush named Mr. Li as Commissioner of the White House and President’s Advisory Commission on Asian American and Pacific Islanders.
Mr. Li is Co-Chair of coalition of Asian American Business organizations and Vice Chair of China General Chamber of Commerce in USA.
Dazong Wang – Greater China Regional Chair
Dr. Dazong Wang is Chairman of Ophoenix Capital Management Inc., an investment bank and advisory company. He has over twenty seven years of management experience with multinational corporations in North America and Asia. He worked for General Motors from 1985 to 2005 in various managerial roles, and joined Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp., the largest Chinese auto group, as Vice President in March 2006. He became the CEO of Beijing Automotive Industry Corp. (BAIC), the fifth largest China auto group, in Feb. 2008. Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Cornell University. He is the founding Chairman of Chinese Association of Greater Detroit, the Chairman of US China Automotive Exchange and the Chairman of the China Global Automotive Executive Council.
