New York, NY (April 26, 2023) – Committee of 100, a non-profit organization of prominent Chinese Americans, today issued the following statement applauding the Senate Committee of Health, Education, Labor & Pensions for advancing the nomination of Deputy Secretary of Labor Julie Su and urged the full Senate to swiftly confirm her as the next U.S. Secretary of Labor. If confirmed, Deputy Secretary Su will be the first Asian American Cabinet Secretary to serve in the Biden Administration.

We at Committee of 100 congratulate her on her nomination and urge the full U.S. Senate to quickly confirm her nomination.”

“Breaking through the proverbial bamboo ceiling continues to be a challenge for Asian Americans and we celebrate the nomination of Deputy Secretary Su to President Biden’s Cabinet,” said Zhengyu Huang, President of Committee of 100. “We look forward to working with the Secretary to help advance key labor issues that impact the Chinese American community.”
