Arthur Liu Pioneer in the radio broadcasting industry

Arthur Liu is President and CEO of a number of privately owned companies in the U.S. broadcast media industry. The main business is Multicultural Radio Broadcasting, Inc. (MRBI). MRBI is a radio holding company that owns and operates thirty-eight (38) AM and FM radio stations in twenty markets throughout the United States, the stations collectively broadcast over thirty different languages.

Mr. Liu is a pioneer in the radio broadcasting industry. In the 1950’s, Arthur Liu was the first rock and roll disc jockey in Taiwan. For eight years he hosted American popular music programs on the Youth Radio, the Public Radio Network, and the Broadcasting Corporation of China. In 1982, MRBI was formed in the United States. In 1992, Mr. Liu launched his first radio station WNWK-FM in New York.

Mr. Liu is a great supporter of education, science, cultural exchange, and community service. Through his family foundation and his business, he has provided considerable support to Polytechnic University’s The Promise Fund’s Center for Youth in Engineering and Science, Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City, New York Hall of Science, Prep for Prep, Charles B. Wang Community Health Center, American Cancer Society, San Francisco-Shanghai Sister City Committee, Chinatown YMCA, Oberlin College, and VIP Community Services, Inc., and many other charitable institutions. Mr. Liu’s radio stations sponsored fund-raising drives and raised millions of dollars for the victims of the September 11th attacks in New York, the Tsunami in Asia, Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast, and other disasters and community needs.

Mr. Liu received the first-ever American Advertising Federation’s Mosaic Award in 2001. In 2004, Mr. Liu was one of 40 graduates honored at the 40th anniversary of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, and a member of the Board of Trustee of Syracuse University.

Mr. Liu graduated from the National Taiwan University and received a Masters of Science degree in Radio and Television from Syracuse University. Mr. Liu is a naturalized citizen of the United States, and lives in New York City with his family.
