Chinese Leadership Transformation
October 11, 2007

Who will replace Hu?
Who will join the Politburo?
What decisions will be made at this month’s National Party Congress?
As Chinese leaders determine the course of Chinese domestic and foreign policy for the next five years during China’s 17th Party Congress, leading expert on Chinese leadership politics and Committee of 100 member, Dr. Cheng Li, provided insight to the future of Chinese politics. He addressed the decisions made by the National Party Congress, including key U.S.-China issues, such as product safety, currency, IPR, energy, global climate change, and human rights. With China’s political fate unknown, he offered his perspective of the possible outcomes that will impact the world. Dr. Li is a Senior Fellow, John L. Thornton China Center, Foreign Policy Studies at The Brookings Institution and a professor of government at Hamilton College.
