Arthur Liu is President and CEO of a number of privately owned companies in the U.S. broadcast media industry. The main business units are Multicultural Radio Broadcasting, Inc. (MRBI), Multicultural Television Broadcasting, LLC (MTBL), and a Chinese language focused media group (Sino Media).

MRBI is a radio holding company that owns and operates forty-four AM and FM radio stations in twenty two markets throughout the United States, the stations collectively broadcast over thirty different languages. MTBL owns six full power broadcast television stations in San Francisco, CA, Boston, MA, Bridgeport, CT, Cleveland, OH, Raleigh, NC, and Los Angeles, CA. Sino Media includes: Sino Radio, Sino Television, and M-Weekly. Sino Radio operates five top 24 Chinese radio stations, KAZN AM1300, KMRB AM1430, KAHZ AM1600 in California and WZRC AM1480 and WKDM AM1380 in New York. Each of these radio stations broadcast full time in either Mandarin or Cantonese. Sino Television consists of Sino Network TV Channel, Sino TV Entertainment Channel, and Sino TV Action Channel. These Chinese language television channels broadcast their programs on Time Warner Cable and Cablevision in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, on KCNS-TV 38 and Comcast 21 in San Francisco and Bay Area, and on IPTV in all 50 states in the U.S. M-Weekly is a Chinese language, culture and entertainment news magazine.

Mr. Liu is a pioneer in the radio broadcasting industry. In the 1950’s, Arthur Liu was the first rock and roll disc jockey in Taiwan. For eight years he hosted American popular music programs on the Youth Radio, the Public Radio Network, and the Broadcasting Corporation of China. In 1972, Mr. Liu established Sino TV Incorporated in New York; four years later, he founded Sino Radio Broadcast Corporation, and began producing original Chinese language programming. In 1987, Mr. Liu created the first Chinese language radio network across the U.S. using FM sub-carrier frequencies. In 1982, MRBI was formed. In 1992, Mr. Liu launched his first radio station WNWK-FM in New York. In 2005, Mr. Liu formed MTBL and acquired five full power UHF television stations from the E.W. Scripps Company.

Mr. Liu is a great supporter of education, science, cultural exchange, and community service. Through his family foundation and his business, he has provided considerable support to Polytechnic University’s The Promise Fund’s Center for Youth in Engineering and Science, Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City, New York Hall of Science, Prep for Prep, Charles B. Wang Community Health Center, American Cancer Society, San Francisco-Shanghai Sister City Committee, Chinatown YMCA, Oberlin College, and VIP Community Services, Inc., and many other charitable institutions. Mr. Liu’s radio stations sponsored fund-raising drives and raised millions of dollars for the victims of the September 11th attacks in New York, the Tsunami in Asia, Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast, and other disasters and community needs.

Mr. Liu received the first-ever American Advertising Federation’s Mosaic Award in 2001. In 2004, Mr. Liu was one of 40 graduates honored at the 40th anniversary of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Mr. Liu serves as a Director and Secretary of the Liu Foundation. He is a trustee of The Asia Society, a member of the Advisory Board of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, and a member of the Board of Trustee of Syracuse University.

Mr. Liu graduated from the National Taiwan University and received a Masters of Science degree in Radio and Television from Syracuse University. Mr. Liu is a naturalized citizen of the United States, and lives in New York City with his family.
