Committee of 100 commits to becoming "Carbon Neutral"

Despite rapid changes in our environment, such as global warming, steps can be taken to fight these problems. The Committee of 100 took initial steps towards bettering the environment by becoming "carbon neutral" for its 16th Annual Conference in New York City in 2007. The Committee purchased a "Puddle Jumper TerraPass," which is part of TerraPass' Flight program. The TerraPass offsets the fuel emissions for those who traveled by air to our Annual Conference. Purchasing a TerraPass funds industrial efficiency and renewable energy projects, such as wind farms, which results in reductions in carbon dioxide emissions. The Committee plans on continuing to be "carbon neutral" for future events.

The Committee recognizes the importance of protecting the environment and will continue its commitment to being environmentally conscious throughout the year through energy-saving and recycling programs at its headquarters in New York.
